Cosmingle Privacy Policy
Last updated 18 August 2026
Cosmingle is an astrology and compatibility app. It builds a birth chart from the birth details you enter, compares charts between people, and — for adult accounts — offers dating and friendship discovery with chat. This page explains exactly what the app stores, why, who else processes it, and how to delete it.
Who is responsible
Cosmingle is the app described here and the name its developer publishes under on Google Play. The developer is the data controller for everything described on this page. For any privacy question, or to exercise the rights described below, contact ivan.trump88@gmail.com.
What the app collects
| Category | What exactly | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Account | Email address and authentication credentials, handled by our authentication provider; the account creation date. | To create and secure your account. |
| Birth details | Date, time and stated accuracy of birth; birth place label, its country, region and city, its precise latitude and longitude, and its time zone. | An astrological chart cannot be calculated without them. Coordinates and time zone determine house placements; a coarse location would produce a different, wrong chart. |
| Profile | Display name, last name (shown only if you choose), age, gender, city, bio, height, interests, languages, education, occupation and industry, hometown, relationship and friendship goals, whether you have or want children, drinking, smoking and food preferences. | To present you to other members and to filter discovery. |
| Sensitive profile fields | Sexual orientation, religion, political views, and race or ethnicity. | Optional profile fields you fill in yourself. Orientation also determines whom the app may suggest to you romantically. You may leave any of them empty. |
| Current location | Your city, its region, country and time zone, and that city's own coordinates. The app holds only the coarse location permission, so the position the system gives it is approximate — accurate to roughly a kilometre or more, never to a street. That approximate position is sent to our geocoding provider to work out which city you are in, and is then discarded; only the city is kept. | To show distance to other members and to apply your distance filter. Distances are computed from city coordinates, so the app never holds a position that would identify where you are within a city. |
| Photos | Profile photographs you upload, and images you send in chat. | To show your profile and to deliver what you send. |
| Messages and voice notes | Message text, voice recordings and their duration, reactions, read and delivery timestamps. | To deliver conversations between members. |
| Charts and reports | Calculated charts, compatibility results, and AI-generated readings and their cached text. | So results are stable between sessions and are not recalculated or re-billed on every open. |
| Push notifications | A device push token, platform, locale, and delivery records. | To notify you of messages and requests. Notifications are optional. |
| Usage and diagnostics | Feature usage events with the interface language, activity logs, and — when you submit a bug report — the app version, build number, platform, locale, screen size, the screen you were on, and any error text or stack trace. | To find and fix defects and to see which languages are in use. |
| Safety records | Blocks, passes, and reports you make about other members. | To enforce your blocks and to act on reports. |
| Reports about other members | What you reported, whom it concerns, and the conversation it refers to. | So an administrator can review the exchange you reported and act on it. Reviewing a reported conversation means reading the messages in it, and nothing beyond it. |
Device permissions
- Location — optional, and used only to name your city. The app requests approximate location only; it cannot ask the system for a precise position. Denying it leaves distance features unavailable; everything else works.
- Microphone — used only while you record a voice message. The app does not record in the background.
- Photos — used only when you pick a photo to upload or send.
- Notifications — optional, for message and request alerts.
Who else processes your data
Cosmingle does not sell personal data and does not share it for advertising. It is processed on our behalf by:
- Supabase — database, authentication, file storage and server functions. Data is stored in the United States (region us-east-2).
- Google Firebase Cloud Messaging — delivery of push notifications, which requires your device token and the notification text.
- OpenAI — receives chart placements, the profile fields a reading is about, and your questions to the in-app astrology assistant, in order to generate readings and answers. Data sent through OpenAI's API is not used to train their models.
- Google Cloud Translation — receives profile bio text when a bio is shown in another language.
- Geoapify — receives the place text you type when searching for a birthplace or a current location.
- Giphy — receives your search terms when you look for a GIF in chat.
- Pages you link in chat — when a link is shared, our server fetches that page to build a preview, which discloses the link to the site hosting it.
Because these providers operate in the United States and elsewhere, your data may be transferred outside your country. We rely on the providers' standard contractual protections for those transfers.
What other members can see
Your display name, age, city, bio, photos, astrological placements and the optional profile fields you filled in are visible to other members in discovery. Your exact birth date and time, your precise coordinates, your last name unless you enable it, and your email address are never shown to other members.
Age
Cosmingle is for adults. Accounts are available from age 18, and the app asks for your date of birth before anything else so it can refuse younger registrations. A parent may still keep a child's chart as a private saved profile on their own account: that is a calculation stored under the parent's account, visible to nobody else, and it is not a member account — the child cannot sign in, appear in discovery, or be contacted.
Why we are allowed to process this
Where the GDPR or a similar law applies, we rely on:
- Performance of a contract — your account, profile, charts, compatibility results and messages exist because you asked for the service.
- Consent — the optional sensitive fields (sexual orientation, religion, political views, race or ethnicity), location, and push notifications. Each is optional, each can be withdrawn by clearing the field or revoking the permission, and withdrawing it does not affect processing that already happened.
- Legitimate interests — keeping the service safe and working: blocks and reports, abuse prevention, and diagnosing defects from the reports you send.
Keeping and deleting data
Your data is kept while your account exists. You can delete your account from inside the app, under account settings; deletion removes your profile, birth details, photos, messages, charts and reports. Cached translations and aggregated, non-identifying usage counts may persist without any link to you. Backups are overwritten on their normal rotation.
Security
Traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted with TLS. Data at rest is encrypted by our hosting provider. Access rules in the database restrict every table to the account that owns the row, so one member's session cannot read another member's private data.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or erase your personal data, to object to or restrict its processing, and to withdraw consent. Most of this is available directly in the app: profile fields are editable, and account deletion is self-service. For anything else, write to ivan.trump88@gmail.com and we will respond within 30 days.
Changes to this policy
When the data a release collects changes, this page changes with it and the date at the top is updated. Material changes will also be announced in the app.
